Juan (Mr. O), founder of UnpackMath

I'm Juan (Mr. O), a high school math teacher in East Houston. Every year, I watch capable students fail the TSIA2 for reasons a score report never explains. So I built something that does.

Most math prep is just more math. I built UnpackMath to do something different: surface the thinking, not just the answers. Because here's what I learned in the classroom, you don't need to know the math to help your student understand it. You need to know where their thinking broke down.

That's the whole thing.

The TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0) is a college placement test required by most Texas public colleges and universities. Your math score determines whether you place into college-level math or need developmental coursework. The passing score is 950 on a 910–990 scale.
